Had an opportunity to test out some lens combinations this past week and was able to catch some of the wading birds at Electric Lake in action. If you said swallows, you’d be largely right. Park Ridge will never be confused for San Juan Capistrano, but the swallows have indeed returned to Electric Lake and can be seen in good numbers.  So far I’ve been able to photograph three types of swallows swooping, dipping and diving over the lake. Spring Begins at Electric Lake

Took advantage of the few hours of sun and slightly warmer temperatures to play around with the camera. The birds of spring are starting to appear at Electric Lake in Park Ridge. Of course some of the winter hold outs are still here. The Ring Neck Ducks aren’t ready to leave yet. The sound of Common Grackles still fills the air, particularly along mill road.
